The photograph shows winter scene, early War 1941/42 showing soldat of the 1st SS Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler [LAH]. This can be seen by the two worded writing on the cuff titles as well as cyphers on the Shoulder Boards. Also seen on the standing SS schütze is another Cuff-title seen above, likely to be a SS Kriegsberichter cuff-title, indicating he is likely a war reporter! The photograph is in the field Snow photograph. They can be seen holding Kar98 rifles too some notably seen wearing Kar98 pouches. It has likely been taken in cover as appears to be a hill in which they are resting on. Greatcoats can be seen worn by the Soldaten, the greatcoat was standard issue coat to keep Soldaten warm in cold conditions. Stahlhelms can be seen with Decals of Runes on the side and SS arm eagles. Some are only seen in M40 tunics, you can only imagine how cold it is for them. You can only imagine what bitter fighting lay ahead for them. This is a crisp in the field photograph that shows a Kriegsberichter, which for a change shows them in shot as appose to them taking the photographs.
