Here we have the Deathcard of Obergerfreiter Anton Holzer who served in a Artillery Regimnent. Anton was born on the 8th October 1917 in Roßweitmuhl (Rothemühl) and died on the 23rd March 1943, as a result of serious wounds in a Field Hospital in Russia.
Anton Holzer seen in his smart photograph wears a waffenrocki, is detailed to have "Inh. mehrerer Auszeichnungen" - Which translates as Multiple Awards. A well decorated Obergerfreiter who fought bravely and died as a result of his wounds endured fighting on the Eastern front. A young life so many, Anton aged 25 years and 5 months old died a hero's death for the fatherland.
The reverse details a religious imagee of Jesus after he was removed from the cross, comforted by Mary with the words "O Lord, spare the people that you redeem through the blood of the dead" underneath.
